Delhi to Agra!
After a relaxing 3 days in Qatar living the 5 star life, i was back on the plane heading to the opposite end of the scale. India.
The flight to Delhi wasn't exactly perfect and makes me happy that the rest of my flights are confirmed!
I ended up taking the jump seat at the back of the cabin. It wasn't so bad, the hostesses where incredible friendly and we had a really good laugh! No sleep at all so a full 24 hours up!
I couldn't help but fall asleep in the taxi to the hotel!
India is just as hectic as I remember! The airport was much more organised than kochi but then it is much larger and the capital city!
I arrived at the hotel around 9am and slept for a few hours until the tour group meeting later that day.
There are eleven of us on the trip, eight girls and 3 guys.
Once again people from all over the world including Norway, USA, hungry and New Zealand.
I will be sharing a room with a Brazilian guy called Bruno. He is very funny and we seem to get on well.
The next morning we were up early to meet a young guy from a street kids orphanage. The Ballack trust is one of the longest running organisations helping street kids in Delhi. They are currently helping over 5000 young people, in Delhi and Mumbai.
We were taken to one of there schools/orphanages above the streets of Delhi. I had a great time talking to the children and started to take a few funny selfies with them. The other children in the room all noticed and wanted to get involved in photo so eventually I was swamped by kids jumping on my shoulders trying to see the camera!
We headed for the largest sikki temple in Delhi next, it was interesting learning about the religion but by far the best part was the free unexpected lunch we received. Every temple around the world offers a free meal after you pray.
You take a metal tray, much like a prison would use. Then you are directed to a line of carpets where everyone sits cross legged on the floor and then the food comes out. The food is handed out by ladle from a bucket!
We had a basic dhal and potato curry with rice and as much bread as you can handle! The good was great!
I wasn't to worried about Delhi belly until after I ate it, but I am happy to say I was fine!
After we visited the spice market and then made our way down to Agra. The Journey took around 5 hours, we had to stops for chai and ... Delhi belly problems with one person!
I managed to convince everyone to try some Indian chai and now they are all hooked!!
We arrived late to Agra, the home of the famous Taj Mahal which we would be seeing early the next day so we headed up to bed after a quick dinner!
