We left Porto pretty late in the afternoon after spending more time than we thought watching the Red Bull Air Race, it was a roasting day and we had to quench our thirst with many Super Bocks from the Red Bull promo trailer. Can you believe that a beer was only 1 euro!! At home event beers are usually 3 times the price of a regular bar and the event is filled with chavs, a very different experience on the continent - we love Porto (not to mention the port).
The air races were amazing and hopefully we can put a video on the site.
We drove down to Figueira da Foz and arrived at dusk where D was instantly accosted by a local surfer, Ricardo, to discuss surfing, world affairs and of course the offer of some surfer dude ganja. There was a beautiful beach here called Praia Cabadelo but the next morning we dipped our toes in the icy water and decided that we could definitely stay unwashed for another day. We decided to head to Coimbra for some culture and then on down the coast as Ricardo had said there the internet oracle informed him of inevitable surf.
