We've all decided, that Cambodia is the most interesting and exciting place so far. It really is dragging itself out of the 3rd world, which has ads and disads a plenty.
When we left Koh Chang, we did so in a air conditioned car, just the 3 of us and jumped on a ferry back to the mainland, all fine and dandy, and then drove to the boarder to cambodia where we met up with other people. We then get a rusty open sided truck to the boarder, and get our visa's stamped. The official kindy overlooked the fact we didnt have passport photos on the visa aps, there may or may not have been a bribe involved.
Then the trouble started. We bought tickets and had a reciept to say we were going to Phnom penh, but the travel company "messed up" and thought we were going to Seam Reap (other side of the country). Instead of apologising, they try to convince us that we should go there, coz its nicer. When we refused, they tried to get more money out of us to go to phnom penh, where we already paid to go. So, after 2 hours of shouting down the phone, the occasionaly rude word, and people running for cover in the street from jess's raging voice, we eventually got them to admit fault, and cough up for us to go to phnom penh. Victory!!!!!
Or not.....we still had to pay the taxi driver 20 USD to go now, rather than tomorrow when his car would be full. Cheeky no?
Anyways, we finaly got to Phenom penh, and booked in quite a nice hostel. Staff and people are very very friendly and cant do enough for you in general.
Yesterday, we went to te S21 museum, which used to be a Khmer Rouge prison.
Today we went to the Khmer rouge killing fields. Id like to write something about it, but to be honest i wouldnt know where to start. Read up on it.
Must go now anyways, food time!!!!
love the us's xxxx
