JOE, skiv(deceased),SAM and JEFFERS'S Travels
Last night of Shanghai was awesome. Went to visit the Bund, which is a collection of really mad skyscrapers on a meander on the river, all lit up with lasers and lights. Photos up soon! Then came our journey...
....And 38 hours, 3 trains and 2 subways later, we got to Hong Kong! At 2am! We stopped briefly after the 28 hour train journey (on which we hadnt eaten for 22 hours) at Guangzhou, grabbed a bite to eat at the first place we found (unfortunatly a McDonalds but we just didnt care). From there we scrubbed the idea of getting an overnight ferry to Hong Kong as apparently you already need a visa for that. So we grabbed a train in which turned out to be much faster.
We are all pretty chuffed as we have another stamp on our passport!
We then crawled into the main town centre and had trouble finding our hostel (Wang Fat hostel - hehe), and had top settle for a more downmarket option (called Bin Man hostel) just because we needed to get our heads down. Skiv slept on the floor (it was his turn for the rubbish bed option as joe had slept in a seperate carrige on the train). Woken up by Joe's phone going off in the dark, which we were very anrgy about as it was still pitch black...and then we realized it was 12.30pm and it was dark because there were no windows.
Changed hostels this morning, to wang fat, which is pretty nice really, and had a brilliant Vietnamese meal with Chai, a friend of joe's dad.
Plan for tonight is to go up to this famous look out point and see the kind of views that are in the picture.
Joe almost choked on his tongue or something last night and made some mental sounds but didnt wake up, to much to mine and jess's amusement.
