Title: Hello San Martin
Pretty pleasant night last night. I had the 2100 to 2400 watch and this morning the 0600 to 0900.
This morning we arrived off Phillipsburg, San Martin too early so we did a lot of sailing just offshore. A lot of tacking and jibing. We also practiced furling the Genny and discovered that the furling reel was jammed. I went up on the bow and un-jammed it only to find that the sail was wrapping up the spinnaker halyard. So we had to unfurl, move the halyard to the mast and start over.
About noon we headed into the marina. We docked up and tore the boat apart looking for a battery charger. The solar cells and wind charger just can't keep up with the power needs. So we either have to run the engine or use shore power.
I found a charger under the starboard bunk, headed for shore thinking I was a hero only to find out later that it didn't work and the others had to continue looking. They did find one, it works and the battery's are charging.
We ate lunch at the 12 Meter lounge at the head of the pier. A nice, upscale place. Very friendly bar tender. The shrimp creole salad was very good and reasonably priced. The beers are only $2.50.
After dinner we all took a taxi over to Simpson Bay to a place called La Bamba's right on the beach. I mean we had sand under our feet!
Also there was a live band playing on a stage right on the beach. We had a good time, despite the rip off prices of the taxis.
