Hello from the land down under, or should I say G\'day - promise not to use such naff terminology again, but couldn\'t resist just this once. Flew into Perth from Singapore at 0700 this morning, after a 5 hour flight and no sleep. Singapore Airlines are really good, loads of leg room, big seats, your own entertainment \'centre\' with games, videos, music etc, but alas, I end up sat behind 4 (yes 4) screaming babies. How unlucky is that! So, sleep being out of the question, I went for anything involving wearing headphones, to try and deaden the cacophony. Watched \"Collateral\" with Tom Cruise and really liked it - has anyone else seen it? Having landed in Perth feeling a little tired and irritable, was not impressed when I had to answer about 30 random questions before the customs officials would allow me to enter the country. Next came the sniffer dog, which was used to detect food - not explosives or drugs, but food! I\'m sure my chocolate bar really could have been used as an offensive weapon. Can you tell that it made me a bit tetchy!? Anyway, I am now at the Pirates Backpackers in Freemantle and have manged to get some sleep today, although probably won\'t be able to sleep tonight. The weather is beautiful, not a cloud in the sky earlier and this evening it is nice and cool - perfect. The scenery from the airport was overwhelmingly brown and arid, which was a stark contrast to the humid greenness I have become used to. Off to a barbie (how Australian and I don\'t mean the doll) at the hostel now, although we\'ll have to see how it goes as I appear to have picked up my first major bout of Delhi belly - how ironic, still at least the loos here are decent.
