Well I finally made it to London, England. I was anxious to start my European adventure and the last day in Canada seemed to go by VERY slowly. I had to make arrangments for the house and the dog. Everything was set and ready to go!
I'm here with a good friend and I'm very thankful he is here with me for the first leg of my journey. He has been here before so, it really helps having someone who knows about the city.
The flight from Toronto was approximately 7 hours long. On this overnight flight, they fed us dinner and breakfast. They also played 2 movies. I tried to sleep part of the way but it was difficult to get comfortable in the small window seat.
On the train ride to downtown London, I nearly fell asleep. The rocking motion was very soothing but I was enjoying the view of the city from the train.
We decided to stay in a hostel. Normally, I would have stayed in a hotel, but my friend insisted that it would be fine. It is much more affordable than a hotel and a very friendly enviroment. The hostel is practically brand new! For my first time in a hostel, I am impressed.
I decided to walk around the streets of London, near the hostel, in order to familiarize myself with the area. I walked through only part of Regent's Park. This park is ENORMOUS! I took several pictures but have no means of uploading them at the moment. Hopefully when I am in Spain, I will have the ability to do so. I looked at a map of the park and believe it or not, but it even has a zoo! Hopefully, I will get a chance to explore that later on this week.
I was extremely tired and went to bed early. There are 6 beds in the room. It was clean and relatively spacious. The washroom and showers are located in the hallway, both of which are uncomfortably tiny. It's amazing how little I can live with! I'm so used to a big bed and cozy home to come to. This will be my "home away from home" for now.
