It's day 6 in Brisbane...as soon as i arrived here i loved this place-it's very similiar to Melbourne with the river, southside etc.Although it is just a big city there's lots of parks, cultural centre, music venues, zoo's....and many many shops (i never thought i'd be saying this but i'm actually done with shopping-feel like just wasting my time here if all i do is wander round town shopping plus i's rather save $ and use it for tours/activities!) Anyway... the hostel we're staying at is in West end (the other side of the river from the city) which is quite nice because although there's some shops/bars/cafes etc along the main streets and the southbank parklands (with a artifical beach!!), cultural centre-we're away from the main hussle and bustle (nice not to feel like you're in party central all the time!!!)-the hostel itself is lovely-tennis courts, pool, nice clean kitchens (been pretty lucky with the hostel's we've picked lately!)
It's been pretty quiet over the last few days her in Brisvegas as it's been easter bank holiday weekend and the majority of places have been closed. The day we arrived we went to meet up with Grant (bloke we met in Byron who lives in Brisbane) and just chill out with a DVD at his place...and OMG what a place!!!Me and JB did not expect him to live in such a place...it's a flat right on the riverside with amazing views of storey bridge, kanagroo point etc. huge balconies, bbq area, swimming pool, sauna, gym....we toyed with the idea of asking to move in!!
Had a great few days though, as lot's of people that i met from further down the coast seemed to of all headed to Bris for the easter, so it's been great cathcing up with people that i met at surf camp, melbourne, sydney etc. AND yesterday had to of been on of the top days so far, being Easter sunday, me and JB decided to organise a easter bbq and egg hunt and for once the plan came together. We had an absolute ball-there were about 20 of us (includ.dave/alistar from melbourne, guys n gals from mojo surf, grant, steph/sarah (from sydney)) that went down to southbank park late afternoon, staying there till about 10-cooked up a real feast and it was just nice to finally get everyone together, catch up, trade tales, etc......PHOTO'S on the way!!
hmmm...what else.....i'm staying here till sunday then me and JB are heading up to Noosa. I haven't really done any touristy things as such yet...what with the bank holiday, but hoping to visit the museum, botanic gardens, kangaroo point, city hall..... so got a busy couple of days planned ahead......
Well everyone take care and i'll hopefully hear from you all soon
Lot's of love tori xxxx
