Day two and at last we see the California sun - caught the sun too, but more of that later. We have now fallen into the trap of comfort-zone breakfast, since we have been to the same coffee house (no, not Starbucks - which is quite a feat in itself as there are 68 Starbucks in the city and apparently they are not allowed to open any more) 2 days running. We bought a 48hr hop-on/hop off bus tour of the city and today decided to get full use of it by planning a whole day hopping on and off. 1st stop was Golden Gate Park where they have the California Institute of Sciences. This houses (among other exotic creatures) an albino croc and once a month they turn the whole building into a nightclub for geeky science types - how cool. I could honestly spend 2 weeks in San Francisco there is so much to see and do. After a few hours on this tour (the blog entry picture is of the famous Painted Ladies - beautiful Victorian houses near to the park that cost a fortune) we decided to hop on the next tour bus that took us over the Golden Gate bridge and into Marlin County. Now by this point (around mid-day) the sun had well and truely put his hat on and I had not - no sun cream either, so by the time the tour finished around 6pm I had a bit of redness on mi boat-race. Anyhow Sausilito (across the Golden Gate from the city) is were all the well-healed folks that work in San Francisco have homes, including George Lucas. There were a few properties for sale and so I had to look them up on the net when I got back to the hotel. Obviously some were millions of dollars, but I've gotta say there were some bargains to be had - one had been reduced by $200,000 to about $240,000 - detached, 3 beds, 2 baths and views of the bay and San Francisco in the distance! I went to bed and dreamt of winning the lotto......
