So finally, after a 16 hour turbulance-filled duel flight (San Francisco via Manchester and Philadelphia) we arrived in the sunny city by the bay. A nice bloke with a limo picked us up at the airport and whisked us to our downtown hotel. We were so tired and calculated that the time back in Manchester would have been around 3am and we had been up since 7am. We decided to have a bite to eat and a cheeky glass of red in the hotel bar before falling into a nice warm bed. I awoke to rain on the window pane at around 6am and couldn't get back to sleep so decided to research our first full day in San Francisco. We had already pre-booked a tour of Alcatraz starting at 10am, so needed to be up and out by 8.30. Stepping out into the light drizzle, we wandered down to Union Square for a coffee and Danish. The rain continued to lash down, and ever the optimist I made the decision to walk to the ferry terminal, duly arriving 30mins later as wet as a winter Manchester morning! Alcatraz is an amazing experience and definately one I would recommend if visiting San Francisco. After this we took a tour bus back to the hotel to plan our next move and where I now leave you with the thoughts from my first ever travel blog!
