Woken up by cleaners in yet another bed in a dorm. I have a habit of being an ass and if there are more than one or two free beds in the dorm, I'll pile my bags on one, maybe clothes above that, and then sleep in another (if it's not busy). Equally if they don't wash my sheets and I've got sand in there, and I get back drunk at night, I sometimes like a clean bed! Hahaha. So this morning, the cleaners had an extra bed to attend to.
Started trying to hitchhike to Port Elizabeth and ended up striking gold as a guy did us a deal of 150 rand to the airport. However, the black guy took us via his township first and dropped off and picked up another guy en-route!
Jack and I got the cards out at the airport before meeting Maureen and Christo, our wonderful hosts in Cape Town the last time we visited, except this time, we were visiting Marylou and Simon (who live in Cleobury Mortimer, Worcestershire).
It was good to see them all and a relief to have a home for the next two weeks. Our dinner was by far the best in ages. Gemsquah, sweet potatoes, flavoured rice, t-bone steaks in chutney and some of Christo's magic concoctions, accompanied by watermelon and fudge for pudding and some alcoholic beverages and cheese and crackers. Ate like kings!
