Had a quick nap following waking up on the beach, went back to the sea to swill all of the sand off of me and then left.
Paid 100 rupees for credit that didn't even work, Chris paid another 100 as we didn't checkout in time (much to my annoyance as I just walk out everytime they ask for a stupid amount, normally half a night's pay) and shared a taxi with the Danish girls Anna and Nanna and French girl Phillipine. Ended up being 1500 instead of 500 that 'Babu' had told us. Scamming Indians.
Chris ate cornflakes for breakfast, I hadn't touched any for about three years or something like that!
On our way to Palolem, the driver had to change a flat tyre on the two-hour drive before we pulled up to the luscious beach resort. Found a hut overlooking the sea and a hammock outside our room for under 4.50 pound a night between us.
Spent the afternoon chilling in the sun, ate pepper steak and chips, played Jahtzee on the beach and then football with the locals. I managed to scrape a goal despite the one-yard-wide posts and the brick wall on the line consisting of a keeper and the defence! They were all pretty s***, especially a guy on my side shooting on site and making a pig's ear of everything. One guy was decent and a couple ok to be fair, but they are all wannabe Ronaldo's, greedy and chasing glory for themselves. They would have like six in front of the keeper in goal and after eventually putting the ball beyond him, they would applaud each other! Clueless! With a 1.25billion population they need a football team though!
We met the Danes and French girl for some grub on the beach at Cafe Del Mar, watching India progress to the final of the World Cup beating rivals and neighbours Pakistan. Fireworks were going off, lots of cheering and singing, it was a happy night for them. To be honest, I was just loving the feeling at being able to have a beer on the beach with a nice fish meal, playing with sand between my feet and admiring the stars. What else do you want?
Bumped into Jack and Hannah again who had enjoyed the spice plantations in Anjuna and been on the back of an elephant spraying them with water! Missed out there!
Called it a night early but ended up smoking and chilling at our hut 'til 3am, me getting up-to-date with the diary and fetching us some snacks from a small stool down the beach and Chris enjoying the hammock.
Something was annoying me in the room in the night, a rat or something, and ther above wooden floorboards with people walking around meant I was moving out the next day!
