Up early doors with me sick as a dog and on the bus to Coimbatore and a further one to Ernakulam. A pretty horrendous journey with me hanging on to the doors of the bus in front of the driver and conductor, vomiting onto the open road as we were driving. You just had to laugh about it. As much as I struggled I managed to refrain a few seconds from coating the locals walking down the hill! I tried drinking lots of water to combat it but that also couldn't find it's way down! Eventually at some station, I bought a mango juice and then after appearing to be calm in front of dozens and dozens of Indians waiting for buses, I walked back towards my bus and painted the ground orange. That was the last time I was sick!
Nursed myself with some banana and sleeping on-off at the back of the bus spread across five seats. Still needed a tuctuc to get to Fort Cochin where we bartered for rooms, Chris arguing with one arrogant son-of-a-gun and then us agreeing 500 for a tidy room, much-needed shower and a 4pm checkout. Also had given my chocolates away to the tuctuc driver (I think they'd melted anyway) and he still tried to short-change us 100 rupees!
We noticed that about 95 per cent of Indian men either or have both a moustache and wear a shirt. Made for a funny few minutes on the bus observing all of them and it is true!
I began to feel better and a scrumptious bolognaise almost cured me. I was shattered.
