Up late following night of Bollywood and sorted out a train to Ahmedabad, charged all my bits, photocopied my passport (as lots of the hotels and guesthouses require one) and watched some of Pakistan demolish the Windies.
Met a Kiwi called Joe, yet another one that now lives in London. I swear we are all just trading places. Loadsa Brits in Aus and NZ, and all the Kiwis and few Aus coming to us! We popped out for some grub (again cheap and I had a type of coke called Thumbs Up - like pure sugar!) before I left everyone including Jack for Ahmedabad.
Jumped on a tuctuc, got on a 6-rupee train to Boravoli and then 212 rupees to Ahemedabad (212 is about 3.05 pounds). People along the way were mostly nice and helpful. Everywhere is so buzzing because of the crazy amount of people and as soon as you ask there's almost always someone to help you out, excluding tuctuc drivers, as wherever you are, they will probably try and convince you that where you're going is miles away and that you need to hop in with them for a 'good price'.
But saying that, on the train and in general there are often many nice people. An old man I met had lived in England before and was very inquisitive and enjoyed having a conversation with me about our contrasting lives and countries!
The train I was on was an overnight one, and with three berths, lower, middle and upper, my first experience was on the lower (which everyone sits on before you hop into your respective bunks). They weren't as bad as I expected just a little dusty on the plastic but all in all, they make for a reasonably comfortable nap. The train shaking constantly doesn't help but you get used to it. The only thing I hated was sleeping with one-eye open (not literally!) checking on my bag and valuables! I actually attached my waterproof mac (which I used as my pillow) to the inside of my bag so if anyone tried to open it they would wake me! See, I'm not just a pretty face!
Mosquitoes demolished me again....
