Captain Tom's Voyage of Discovery
Howdy guys + galz!
Well I am now at Erin + Steve's place in Sydney.
My last couple of days in Melbourne were pretty good!!! The plan had been to meet up with Dan + Adam on Saturday before flying out on Sunday (couldn't be arsed with the 4 day Oz Ex tour and the flight was only £30) but as I hadn't heard from Adam by Saturday morning, it was looking like my second CHS reunion would have to be put on hold. Instead I decided to catch up on some sight seeing in the city.
.
After nearly bumping into Random Guy (I managed to avoid eye contact) I headed to the Rialto Tower observation deck. I managed to get some pretty peachy shots of Melbourne from what used to be the tallest office building in the Southern Hemisphere. After a brief shopping trip and a smooze around the city centre I headed back to my hostel. All my room mates had checked out this morning so I was relieved when I found a couple of bags in the dorm. However, my relief turned to shock when it appeared a couple of my T Shirts, which had been hanging out to dry, had gone missing. Before I had time to break down in tears and mourn the loss of my favourite T-shirt, the door opened and in walked Dan + Adam!! The b******s had hunted me down, got them selves booked in to my room and hid my t-shirts for fun! Well at least the left a Tim Tam on my pillow.
Well at that point, my plans for the evening (which consisted of very little) were thrown out the window! Instead a night of whisky drinking, Cuban cigar smoking and checking out the BIGEST collection of 700s you have ever seen took place. We said our good byes the next morning, arranged our next meeting in Nadi and I tootled off to get my plane to Sydney.
I have been having a laugh in Sydney do far. Erin + Steve have got them selves a nice flat about 15 minutes away from the centre of Sydney, complete with a distant view of the impressive CBD - Not bad even if you do have to go to the top of the pedestrian bridge to see it! As Erin had Monday off, she was able to give me her personal guided tour of old Sydney, Circular Quay (home of the opera house and harbour bridge) and the Botanical Gardens. After I went photo crazy with my camera we headed off the oldest pub in Sydney for a v. nice pint! Dad- it's the kind of pub you would really like (they brew their own beer!!!!!) I managed to catch up on Neighbours in the evening and check out the Soceroos exit from the world cup...Steve was not happy!!
Today, I ventured into the city on my own and failed to get lost!! Wooooo! After some serious (window) shopping I headed up the Centre Point Tower to score some exmellento pictures of the city. As I failed to hunt down a Boost juice bar (dan and adam have got me hooked) I decided to head back over to Circular Quay. Having already got more than enough pictures of the Bridge and Opera House, it was time to get my culture fix and do the tour of the Opera House. It's a pretty impressive building!!!!
Well that's all for now! I think I am off to the Northern Beaches tomorrow.
Miss you all, TOM x
