Tom - World Tour!
Apologies for the repetition of the photo but it's the only one STA have on their site of Malaysia and I don't have my pics on the site yet! Our plan in Malaysia was to visit the highlands where they grow tea and then the jungle in Taman Negara, however after much persuasion from everyone we met, about clear blue water and white sand we headed to the Perenthian islands on the east coast.
We left KL in the morning via bus to the highlands which was more like a roller coaster ride as the driver thought he was a rally driver and even managed to hit a car on a blind corner on the way which was very funny as the traffic built up and I managed to get a couple of pics which i'll post!
The whole area is purely farming and tea plantations but you do get to see some of the indeginous communities which line the road and the more relaxed Malaysian life. We spent one day here where we trekked through one of the local trails through the jungle and then the 'Malaysian' 2K to the tea plantations which turned out to be 5.8K a local told us!
We travelled to the Perenthians via minibus (for additional safety) with most of the guys from the backpackers. We arrived on the islands in cloud but still the view was awesome and we saw a turtle in the bay on our arrival! Purely a chillout session and to stay in one place for more than 2 nights we mostly laid in the sun, relaxed a bit more, ate a bit, drank in the evenings and saw the amazing coral reefs dotted around the islands....so it was a really tough 4 days!!!!!! pics to follow. So I am sitting here with the Mexican tan back and still recovering from our 13 hour journey back to Singapore via the night train and the choppy fast boat from the islands where everyone got absolutely soaked! We fly to Bangkok tomorrow at 8ish I think, for 5 weeks of the 'interesting' Thailand life that everyone has been telling us about! Hopefully we will get into Cambodia too, possibly Laos so I will update again form there hopefully with more pics, speak soon T
