Tom - World Tour!
Hi guys,
Just returned from the north of Thailand. We arrived in a cloudy Bangkok about a week ago and did a lot of the sight seeing with trying not to spend too much on knock off clothing and tailored suits! The 3 wheeled Tuk Tuk rides are an experience in thier own right and normally involve weaving in and out of traffic and overtaking with inches to spare! After a couple of days we left for trekking in Chang Mai in the north.
The trek was a 3 day 2 night trip where we got to raft down a river and ride elephants. The walking wasn't to hard but it was enough in the heat! The first night we stayed on a ridge with one of the norths Hill Tribes. It was awesome to experience and see another culture so cut off by the main Thailand way of life. Our second night was spent at a water fall about an hour hike from the start of our trip where our guide gave us moonshine (dodgy spirit) to taste with more rice and bamboo shoot. On our return we all met up in the evening and we showed the guys where to eat student style by having a meal in one of the local '50p a meal restaurants' and no one yet has told us they were ill!
So we are back in Bangkok now after arriving this morning on the over night train. We have a day here beofre we leave tonight for the south and some island hopping, diving and the infamous full moon party! Hope all is well with everyone back home, travelling now is the norm and the wierd things you see from day to day also.
Have finally managed to update all the photos so hopefully you can now all see. Off to get lunch now and then back to the tailors for suit fitting! T
