Tom - World Tour!
India is living up to expectations of complete chaos with amazing landscapes and experiences! We arrived in Delhi at night and were taken by a suspected non taxi to a hotel in Delhi where cows wonder the streets eating out of the piles of rubbish and touts try and collect up the last few unsuspecting tourists. Delhi is a city of various smells, noise levels and people so we didn't stay very long and were quite happy to leave asap!
From there we took a train to Rajasthan in the west of India to visit Jaipur to experience some of the area . Then we took a further 15 hour train ride to Jaisalmer in the desert as far west as you can go before crossing into Pakistan. Here, we are staying within the fort in the city built 1000 years ago which has some impressive architecture and is surprisingly very clean! We have just got back from a leg sretching 2 day 1 night camel safari across the desert which was awesome. The trek took us by nomadic communities and other villages in the desert and Sahara like sand dunes where we slept for the night. A definate highlight of our trip although I think it will take a few days though to stop walking like John Wayne!
So we have a 2 days here to recover from a hectic and definately not hassle free first week before heading off! Our next stop is Agra and the Taj Mahal, and then the holy city of Varinassi before heading south to Mumbai and Goa to hopefully find rare tranquility in India before we head home! T
