After struggling in Ubon we has hoping for a little bit more in Nakon we got the train this time. As we got on we was allocated our seats and greeted by a young girl who was the complete opposite from the waitress that served us breakfast the day before in Ubon, unfortunately she did not know how to
smile and was obviously very unhappy in her job. The journey was to take about 5 hours and we settled into our seat quite comfortably and although it was warm with fans blowing along the ceilings of the train we was given a blanket each. The train soon filled up and shortly into our journey we was given a free meal and drink something we did not expect, the locals on the train tucked into it but as we was unsure of what it was we decided to give it a miss as didn't fancy getting an upset stomach. We arrived at Nakon about 7pm so it was dark when we arrived. We soon got in a tuk tuk and was taken to our lovely Chadaya Resort. This resort was tucked away down a side street and again I made a wrong choice as there was just nothing near it. Our room was a single storey bungalow with a separate sitting room and bedroom, the bed was huge and had a lovely big quilt on it, it reminded me of our bed at home and looked really cosy i couldn't wait to snuggle up into that night. It was dark and we couldn't see much but we really liked
the feel of this place and knew we wanted to stay longer, so straight away we booked in another 2 nights. We had a meal in the resturant, went back the room and was excited about what the next day would have to offer and where was going to go.
We had breakfast, got a map from reception and realised we was in the middle of nowhere down some country land and looked we was back to square one again, the main tourist attractions was temples and after being to Chiang mai you kinda get all templed out. So we got a tuk tuk to take us into town and see what was about.
Nakon Ratchisma referred to as Khorat, it's close proximity to Bangkok and Issan make it a short stop gap for travellers heading to Issan, although there is very little western influence here apart from a big shopping which took over much off the city centre. The mall was full of shops and the usual Mc
Donald's, Pizza Hut and Starbucks Coffee. As much as I hate going to these places we sat and had a coffee in Starbucks and just people watched. There was a massive children's play area and also an indoor watermark. As it was a weekend it was packed with locals and very noisy. We left the mall got a tuck tuck to Tesco lotus had a wander around, got a few essentials then headed back to Chadaya. Although we was not much to do we had booked in for 3 nights and we was happy chilling out in our little bungalow and we loved snuggling up each night in our comfy bed so just stayed on the resort until it was time to leave and booked a bus to take us to Rayong.
