Thursday 4th October
Today is our last day in KK so we are going to spend the day on a beach and our lovely Concierge Rosileh has recommended we go to Mamutik Island. So we got the shuttle bus to the jetty and joined the crowds of Chinese Holiday makers onto a boat. We stopped off at Manukan island first which was full of Chinese families with all the gear trying to snorkel in choppy waters. It was so funny as they don't talk directly to each other they just shout. We only stayed here for an hour then got the boat over to Manutik. We was really disappointed at first when we got there as it was only a small island and again was full of Chinese, but it was Golden Week, a National Chinese holiday and they were entitled to be on that beach just as much as us, but god it would have been so much quieter and nicer if they were not there.
So we found a nice little spot and went and did some snorkelling. It was great the visibility was really good and we saw a variety of fish so we was happy.
Had a wonderful day snorkelling and just lazing on the beach. Got the boat back to KK and went a had a lovely meal near the sea front, washed down with some cold San Miguel Lights.
We really enjoyed our time in KK especially the Sabah Oritental hotel, we enjoyed the cold tiger beers in the lobby lounge and the variety of breakfast we had, including omelette and mashed potatoes and bread and butter pudding with custard for breakfast. We enjoyed watching the construction going on outside our hotel and waking in the early hours and seeing them still working and walking along the edge of this tall constructed building without any safety awareness.
Tomorrow we have a long bus journey to Sandikan where after being in Borneo for 2 weeks we hope to see some Orang-utans.
