We woke up to pouring rain again :( weren't having much luck with the weather. I had got myself ready to do a skydive today but it wasn't looking good in this weather!!
As we drove toasted rotorua the weather picked up and it got sunnier n sunnier :). Yayyyy.
Rotorua is set in a landscape of erupting geothermal activity. It has a unique smell of sulphur which isn't particularly nice hehe. We went to a living maori village first and had a traditional hangi lunch there. They cook the food in these boxes where the heat is natural. They place them in certain spots to get the right temp. They also have bubbling pools of water which they use to boil corn n eggs. :). The village is called whakarewarewa. Try saying that lol the real name is even longer. We had a tour round the village too and a cultural show which was really interesting. The lady was a bit militant lol but it made it more fun!!
After that I had an hr or so to get ready for my skydive. Omg I was actually gonna do it. I was so nervous but looking fwd to it at the same time :). Few others were doing it too so had lots of encouragement.
We drove upto the skydive place and signed our lives away!! I took the 15000ft jump which was the highest with 60secs freefall. The guys at the place were really cool. Got kitted out and onto the plane. Felt a bit calmer until I saw how high I was but I was determined to do it. There was no time to think about it as he pushed me to the edge and 2secs later I was out. It was the most amazing thing ever and nowhere near as scary as I thought. I didn't wanna come down. I was ready to do another. Def recommend it and the views were woww.
After all that excitement we went for an Indian. Nice way to end the day. Been craving it for a while. The food was great too. Obviously not like mums but the next best thing hehe.
