Before we left Abel Tasman we got the chance to plant a native tree at the campsite. Wonder if we'll ever get a chance to go back and see it. The guys mucked in to take the soil and stuff out to the spot and they dug a hole for the tree. I forgot what the trees called now but it was a nice one. Once this was done it was time to make our way to Hanmer Springs.
We stopped on the way at Kahurangi and Nelson National Parks. Had lunch by a beautiful lake. It was so picturesque and hot. Did a small little walk into the bush to burn off some of the food and then back on the bus.
We arrived in Hanmer Springs late afternoon. Had really amazing accommodation here. Little lodges that weren't so little. Although I think the boys got the fancy batchelour pad hehe but that's ok. Ours wasn't so fancy but was still nice. We had dinner at a local pub followed by a trip down to the hot pools. The hot pools are naturally heated and all at different temperatures. Was such a nice place to relax and unwind. Unfortunately that evening it decided it would pour down with rain and so ET had to head back and get the bus for us. Didn't fancy getting soaked and walking in flip flops in rain is virtually impossible lol
Had a fairly quite evening back at the lodge. Actually got time to sit on a sofa in front of a TV and watch some random film!!
