Day 9 29th Nov 2009
We started our day at 8.30 by heading to Waitoma. On the way we stopped at an adventure park where you could do a bungee, rope swing etc. I didnt do anything because i was saving myself until Queenstown! (adventure capitial of the world) and i thought if i'm going to do it then i may as well do it properly! ahh.
Once in Waitomo i went black water rafting. There was a choice of two courses you could do, basically the easy and the hard. Obviously i went for the hard! lol. The activity included being dressed up in a full wet suit, boots, helmet and a light! and black water rafting included being in dark underground caves which was had millions of glow worms. We did rock climbing, absailing, zip linning and much more. At the start of the adventure we absailed down a 35 metre limestone hole which drops into the caves where the river runs through. That was quite scary lol. We then walked a little through the cave and then got hook up to zip line. We all got asked to turn our lights off and the next minute we were wizzing through the cave in the dark. I was crapping myself because i had no idea where i was going and it was very fast lol. After that trauma we sat down on a little cliff face and the guides made us tea and biscuits, then once we had all warmed up we all jumped into the river off the cliff with a rubber ring stuck to our asses lol. It was really funny and quite cold (but once i was in for a while it was quite warm). We rode down the river on our rings with the lights off so we could see all of the glow worms all over the place, that was really nice. We treked for 4 hours ducking and diving through the through the caves and up waterfalls.
This adventure was the most amazing, scariest thing i have done so far and it was really cool to do.
