Day 8 28th Nov 2009
We started our day at 7.30 and headed to Rotorua. The journey took about 5 hours!. We stopped on the way for an hour hyke across the moutains. The views were really nice. We walked across a swing bridge and that was a scary experience lol. We also stopped at the Hobbiton village which is well know in the film Lord of the Rings.
Once in Rotorua we went to see the nateral hot pools and mud polls that had been produced by the near volcano. That was a really interesting tour. In the evening we went to watch a Marori Show. The evening started by being welcomed into a Marori village by the tribe. They were all dressed in outfits and had the full make-up. The show was about an hour long and it included traditional Marori singing, dancing and their culture story. The show was really really good. They preformed the well known Hakka (what the new zealand rugby players perform at their rugby games). We also got to play games and learn the hakka, really funny lol. They also put on a huge buffet that was cooked in a hangi (its basically cooked underground in a pit and steamed on hot rocks), it was delicious :-). For pudding we had Pavalova which is a well known common pudding in New Zealand and it was sooo yummy.
We ended the night by being dropped back off at our hostel at 10pm so we all had a few drinks in the bar and then went to bed
