Our third day in Bled, and we were still loving it. We had to change rooms in the morning because we'd booked a cheaper room for the final night. After breakfast and preparing ourselves for the day, we grabbed a bus and made the short journey to Lake Bohinj.
This lake was bigger than the one in Bled, and since it was a little higher up in the mountains it was way colder as well. After a short stroll around the perimeter, we found a nice private spot that would serve well as a base for us to dip a toe in the lake. Mari was complaining that it would be too cold to swim but after I started getting my swim gear on, she realised there was no point in carrying on that way and did the same. The sensation of that mountain water on my pelotas was something I will not forget anytime soon, yet after some acclimatisation time it finally felt reasonably comfortable and very refreshing. Definitely the best type of water to swim in, it was ridiculously clear and pure, while the mountains and a little bridge by the lake made for an absolutely ripping view.
Eventually though, clouds appeared, and the rain followed. We were still swimming in the water, watching all the canoes and kayaks get the f*** off the lake ASAP. I figured since I was already wet there was no point in getting out, so I decided to swim from one side to the other. It was fairly long, but good exercise and there was a dog waiting to greet me on the other side. I got my breath back and then began the return journey, making sure to keep out of the way of a tour boat going around the lake. After finishing the swim we decided the weather was too s*** to do much else, but we didn't mind since it had been pretty awesome just swimming there.
After grabbing a Spanish-style hot choccy and punching a duzza or two, we headed back to Bled. When we returned to the hostel we found that of the 12 beds in our room, 11 had been already taken. The hostel had overbooked and they were totally full, so they offered us the chance to sleep in one bed for half the price, which we took. I knew then that Mari would take the whole bed and I wouldn't sleep well (sure enough it became true), but it was worth saving a few dineiros since we had gone over the budget a tiny bit in the last few days.
That night, a Monday of all nights, the amount of party at the hostel definitely went up a few notches. There was an Irish invasion for one, and also many people not even from the hostel got caught there when a massive all-nighter storm kicked in. As a result c*** got fairly messy - and so did the hostel. Some dude vomited and passed out in one of the upstairs rooms, and sure enough he wasn't even staying at the hostel. It was amusing but also retarded and it started to wear thin after a while. Eventually enough people left in search of alcohol that we could try and get some sleep, but it was at least 3:30 before that happened...
