So after a couple of days in the pretty but small Slovenian capital, it was time to make our way towards one of the places I was most excited for in our trip - Bled, a small town on the edge of the Julian Alps with a popular lake....
...And it didn't let us down. After getting off the not-very-long bus ride from Ljubljana sometime around noon, it took us about two minutes to decide we would have stay night longer than planned. This place was amazing, like something you'd see in a fantasy movie or some s*** like that. Perfectly clear water (despite a reasonable number of tourists), a cute castle on a rock face directly looking over the castle, a little island in the middle with only a church and a few trees, and mountains in the background to top it off.
Soon enough we found our hostel, which turned out to be a pretty good one. Very close to the lake, and it had a good view and facilities and all that. However, we weren't staying in the same rooms however because the place was full. I let Mari have the more expensive room. Later on I would find out that I was the only guy sleeping in a room with seven girls, three of which I met for the first time when they were naked. I think they thought there were no guys in the dorm and just left the door open while getting changed. They were embarrassed but for me it was all pretty funny...
Anyway, after dumping our things we grabbed a sladoled (ice cream) and had a walk around the river. Eventually we came to a place where you could hire rowboats to use on the lake, and since Mari was in a princess kind of mood she totally wanted me to row her around. So that's what we did, and it was really nice, although Mari was bored quite quickly because I was the one using the oars paddling us around, while she was doing nothing at the back of the boat except perpetuating gender roles hehe.
Later on we made out own dinner using stuff we bought from the supermarket - the hostel wasn't cheap so we had to be economical in other ways - and after another walk, finished the night planning some stuff for Budapest, the next destination.
