It's Tim again.
After our nightmare flight back to La Paz we check backed into our hostel (Arthy's - quite possibly the friendliest hostel in the world) and decided to have a couple of restful hours as we were worried about the old altitude sickness again. I'm pleased to say we were not to bad - headaches and a lack of energy but nothing like before. After a couple of hours we headed out for a bite to eat and a wander round "gringo alley".
Did much more wandering the next day - mainly around the area of the Witches Market which sold plenty of odd things, including dried llama foetuses. We chose not to buy. Took it easy still for most of the day so as not to overdo things.
The next day we decided to do a City Tour on a double decker bus!! We visted most areas of La Paz and stopped at the Valley of the Moon which is a National Park with strange rock formations. We both really liked La Paz - apart from one thing - the pollution. It felt like all we were breathing in was petrol fumes! That afternoon we booked our bus to Copacabana for a couple of days time and boked a trip for the next day to some Inca ruins at Tiwanaku.
Got picked up early the next day for our trip to Tiwanaku. It was about one and a half hours drive in a tiny minivan with about 15 people. The scenery was spectacular, or what I could see of it. I had the misfortune of a rather large chap sat in front of me obscuring my view. We had a guided tour around the ruins and the museum and were railroaded into a restaurant for lunch. Overall I think Penny and I were pretty underwhelmed and were quite glad when we headed back to La Paz!
The next day we were again up early (a bit of a theme with this trip) to catch our bus to Copacabana, our last stop in Bolivia.
I think Penny wants to write about it.....
