Not feeling as rough as yesterday morning we had to get an early start as check out was at 10am.....so it was breakfast, shower and then pack up as once again our stuff seemed to have explode from our bags!!!
This routine completed, we put our bags in the storage room and headed out for a bit of last minute sightseeing....it was raining and cold....just our luck that we spent the sunniest day in be with a hangover!...so we got on the 59 bus towards the Cemeterio de la Recoleta a necropolis of mausoleums that could represent a small city. It's the final resting place or Argentina's elite and also where Evita is buried.
I have never seen a cemetery like this....there were numerous mausoleums and some of them were huge, like individual churches. There were newer ones and ancient ones that were crumbling away. It was impressive and spooky at the same time...in a majority of them you could see the coffins and photos of the perished and after a while I started to get very freaked out but Mark insisted on walking down every aisle....this place was massive we would never see it all! When we got to Evita's grave there was a queue of tourists and the gate had flowers all over it....although it wasn't the most impressive or biggest one there, but we still to posed and got photos.
After a few hours I couldn't take it anymore and persuaded Mark to go....we decided to walk back with a coffee and half a cake from McCafe!
We walked back taking in more of the city. In malls and through parks. The rest of the day we spent at the hostel on the Internet and eating pizza before we got the subway (another underground on our list) to Retiro bus station for our 8.10 bus to Mendoza....
