It's been a busy weekend here at Jamilliam Lodge. Things are getting real with less than 70 days to go until we embark on our long awaited trip. We must confess we are getting a little excited our end and we continue to ponder over routes, destinations, what to take as well as what NOT to take.
One pleasant turn of events in the past week has been learning that not only does Uncle Ron plan to join us in Mataranka to drive over to Broome but he will also be traveling with us as we head down the west coast!
With no oven in the caravan and having temporarily removed the microwave for a bit more room we continue to experiment at home with different options and have tonight experimented with what is now to be known as a caravan roast - whole chicken in the pressure cooker accompanied by deb potatoe & tinned carrot, peas & corn.
This weekend also saw a bit of a stock up on dry staples & the kitting out of the first aid kit.
Will endeavor to post photos and details in the countdown to departure of what 'dry staples' consist of and have included a picture of the first aid kit part a.
It's worth noting I guess that our family first aid kit also includes a variety of extra bits & pieces that are unique to our families own needs (I.e. Specific allergies, a type 1 diabetic etc) so whilst it may look a bit over the top we are running with the "if we have it we won't need it" theory - so needless to say we still need to add glucose tablets, a glucagon injection kit and blood ketone strips not to mention about 20 - 25 pump sites and reservoirs and countless numbers of insulin vials (will need to save room in the fridge!!)
Anthony has also insisted on us taking a UHF radio and one of my old employees from the rail days have very kindly loaned us one for the trip so we will be on channel 40 - call sign Bun.
