The Simple Life
Following on from our last hung-over extract......
You won't be surprised we didn't venture far that evening, had a bite to eat watched a film in a bar. We were up early the next day anyway for a boat trip around the island.
Wow, one of our best days so far. Thailand gets more beautiful everyday! First stop was Maya Bay where The Beach was filmed. Couldn't get onto the sand but we snorkelled in the crystal clear waters surronding. First time either of us have snorkelled with the fish and Lynne found she was a real water babe. Lyndsay, on the other hand, was stung by the fish!!! Visited another couple of islands where we had the opportunity to snorkel, passed the viking caves. Feeling energetic after all our swimming and snorkelling we decided to take the kayaks out to Monkey Island. Fine when the tide is with you not against! Monkey Island was beautiful, and we can't believe how close we actually got to the monkeys. They were really tame and very happy to pose for the camera. Sunbathed on Bamboo Island then were taken to Shark Point in the middle of the ocean. Clearly there was no sharks to see, this is why we were in the water!
After a brilliant day out we decided another cocktail evening was on the menu. At one point our glasses contained 4 different spirits! We were pretty well behaved though and didn't feel the need to abuse any boys / men this time around. Got to chatting to some ozzie boys, not our type but a good laugh was had by all.
Feeling delicate the next morning it probably wasn't one of Lynne's better ideas to suggest walking / climbing the 186 metres to Viewpoint! CPR and an oxygen mask later we made it to the top. As the pictures will show it was totally worth it. We were feeling a bit out of sorts by the time we were strolling along the beach when the glint of the sun on the pool and the sprinkle of the waterfall in the 5* hotel enticed us to trespass. As cool as you like past the security guards, behaving like we belonged there we found ourselves lounging on the comfiest sunbeds by the most fantastic pool. The enjoyment was spoilt slightly by the nagging thought that we may be turfed out at any moment. We weren't, clearly it looked like we were rich enough to be staying there!
We were getting up early to catch a boat to Phuket the next morning so had another quiet night, watched Oceans 12 and decided to treat ourselves to a thai massage. What a mistake that was. They start the massage by cracking every toe, then crunching your ankles - nuff said. We were mortified and were trying to muffle our screams but it honestly felt like we were being abused and violated. Didn't feel any benefits the next morning either. First and last thai massage!
