The Simple Life
We left Bangkok from Hulalampong Station on the overnight sleeper. As usual we had to make a run for our train. Not a pretty sight let us tell you! Expecting the Orient Express we were greeted to conditions more similar to that of ScotRail! Our carriage was an 18 bunk dormitory and we had the fortune to be stuck next to the irish child from hell. To make matters worse the toilet facilities left a lot to be desired, hole in moving train and squat (I think you'll get the idea - please see attached photo). We managed a few hours kip before the 2nd part of our journey. Bus, bus, and another bus. We finally arrived in Krabi (Ao Nang) 18 hours later with no accommodation, no energy and basically no clue. After a 15 minute trek we stumbled across some guest houses. We practically had to rock climb up the staircases they were so steep, and we both nearly died when Lyndsay lost a flip flop on route. Discovering a very nice bedroom but disgusting bathroom we had to scale the cliff-face back down and booked into the guest house next door instead.
The weather was disappointing but allowed us to relax after the madness of Bangkok. We did however manage an evening out where a couple of norwegian boys were encouraging us to drink thai buckets (see photo). We then felt the need to dance with the go-go girls (who by the way looked as though they had stepped off the catwalk!). They were so impressed by our moves that they wanted to give us jobs but we weren\\\'t too keen on the \\\"extras\\\".
2 days later we caught a boat to Ko Lanta, a more remote island. Thinking we were invisible we didn\\\'t bother to apply any suntan lotion and arrived a few hours later looking like typical scots abroad. Braw tan lines!!!!
