.....We spent a day at the Stockyards and in Dowtown Fort Worth. Lots of fun. In fact, we are planning another trip out to the stockyards tonight. Hopefully we'll be able to see some bull-riding at Bill Bob's. Billy Bob's claims to be the largest Honky-Tonk in the world. It is pretty spectacular inside. Very dark, loads of Country Music memorabilia, and bull-riding arena actually in the bar! From the Stockyards we visited downtown Fort Worth. Lots of large buildings and some great architecture. Highlights of the are were the Fort Worth Water Gardens and a visit to the Thomas Kinkaide gallery. The Water Gardens were amazing. Absolutely huge, and totally interactive. We climbed all over them. The sound from inside was very loud. We sat for an hour, amused by the 'Mullet Family' watching their kids get soaked from head to toe. The Kinkaide Gallery was a real treat. Loads of beautiful paintings. We all had fun dimming the lights in the gallery and watching the atmosphere and mood of the paintings change as the lights brightened and darkened.
So the rest of the week has mostly been taken up with looking at houses in the Lakeside and Lake Worth areas. We have seen lots of beautiful houses and some amazing pools. So now we have a good handle on the areas we like and what is available. We are planning to move on and check out more of the Southern US in the next week. We will probably head up toward Memphis and across Tennessee, and from there into the Carolina's.
