SATURDAY NIGHT - On our way out of our hotel we stumbled upon a Classic Car Rally...(pictures attached). So we spent Saturday evening at the Stockyards in Fort Worth. Had another great meal at Risckys...the catfish was great! Then off to Billy Bob's to watch the bull-riding. It was fun to watch, but very short and sweet. It couldn't have lasted more than 15 minutes in total. The bulls were fairly small as it is a small arena (understandably, due to the fact it is in the middle of a bar) and the riders even smaller. The youngest rider was fifteen, the same age as Jerome. I asked him if he'd like to try it...his answer was 'not in this life'. From the bull-riding we headed to the stage and watched Tracy Lawrence sing. It was pretty good....I still don't understand how people can go to a live concert and sit in seats for the duration. It's bizarre, music was made to be danced to...surely?
Sunday morning....we decided to leave the Dallas/Fort Worth area and head east to experience something new. On the way out of town we went to one of Darcy's old haunts....The Blue Goose, for tacos el carbon. It was alright, nothing outstanding.
From Dallas we headed east to the Arkansas border and a night in the Motel 6 in Texarkana. The evening started well with a trip to the movies. We saw 'The Heartbreak Kid'. It was very funny, worth the money once we realised the hell-hole that we had booked into. It wasn't just the putrid smell of urine that made the room almost unbearable, but the sudden discovery of cockroaches scurrying across the table and then the bed. Needless to say, we will no longer be staying with Motel 6. In only two weeks we have had three bad experiences, each worse than the one before. The only saving grace regarding the 'roach room' was that we didn't pay for it.
Into Arkansas....
