wow! what a night and what a day!
our stateroom on the Queen Mary was excellent, but it was rather cosy. two double beds meant that Brooke the flailing octopus had to share with us grown ups. sleep came between thrashes, and totalled 14m 30 s overall. Never again!
The morning was interesting - when I went off for my run the concierge warned me of a protest march and police presence, so I just circled the Sundeck around the Queen Mary. 27 laps in the light rain was about 13 k - but quite entertaining. with each circuit I was watching the 4 helicopters, 6 police boats and up to 24 police cars move around the city. it was just like in the movies where suddenly 17 cars in a row would appear along a street. Good idea for a comedy or two.... the protest came and went then the skies opened up. roads flooded and the old Queen Mary sprung a few leaks, but we enjoyed the tour anyway. no ghosts, much to Brooke's relief.
we then checked out and raced up to Sony for an excellent studio tour. because of the rain a location shoot by Will Smith was cancelled (men in black 3) so we got to hang around there. didn't see him, but his driver was hanging around so if we were patient....
after that we battled the peak hour thru LA then the long journey to Vegas. It snowed on us in the highlands and we found a spot to stop for a snow fight. needless to say I won!
The hotel (treasure Island) is pretty cool and well located but it was a late arrival so we unloaded and crashed.
A very long but rewarding day.
