Early rise and a pickup in a stiflingly hot bus. We were ferried out to a local airport to the hangers for Vegas 500. Very professional looking mob, with an amazing hanger - full of disco lighting, pool (and other) tables and a rather expansive bar. Very Vegas!
The flight out to the Canyon in a shiny new 10 seater plane was perfectly smooth, then we joined the throngs ready to be ferried down to the canyob floor by chopper. The air was full of the sounds of choppers buzzing in and out with barely a pause - it was like something out of a MASH episode. Our flight down waqs amazing - great views, a tad noisy, but again perfectly smooth. Once we were ferried out of the chopper we were taken to a pontoon boat to drive up the river against the current, then drift back down. Our skipper was hilarious and managed to make the boat ride one of the highlights - but just floating down the Colorado looking up at the canyon walls was pure magic. The return chopper to the top was as much fun as the downward ride and we then had an hour or so to wander around Guano Point. Amazing views - and you were right at the edge - no rails or barriers. Awesome! Sat and ate a nice lunch right on the dge of the canyon.
So far our little trek to the Canyon is the highlight for all of us - which was a surprise. We took way to much video and too many photos, so be busy on that night.....
After a requisite afternoon snooze (It was an early start!) we hit the hotels along the strip again. Luxor, Excalibur, Circus, Circus, New York, New York and a quick look at Stratosphere. We would loved to have done the rides at the top, but we've done some amazing rides, and $150 just seemed a bit too much to pay for a couple of short rides. Naturally the girls managed to squeeze in some more shopping. Had a piggie dinner again.....
