A couple of hours drive today after a very pleasant early morning run for me and a sleep in for the rest of the crew. Zero degrees Celsius!
The drive was only broken by a quick side trip through a walled community very reminiscent of the street in Desperate Housewives (No scantily clad women to be seen...) and we then watched the road go from single lane in need of maintenance up to cloverleaf flyovers with multiple layers of roads all over the place. Betty the GPS to the rescue.
Once we hit San Francisco Sarah found us a great hotel with 3 double beds in 2 rooms within the main part of the city. Sadly it's right near the shopping precinct!
We then drove over the Golden Gate ( which, while impressive, was overshadowed by the larger Bay Bridge that we had just driven across). Took the tourist pics then headed for an hours relax before going for dinner at the famous Cliff House. We were right up against the glass for the sunset view over the ocean and had an excellent meal. We had to leave one of the children behind as part payment, but it was worth it!
After a side trip to the supermarket and dodging the homeless, we settled in for a cheesy Xmas movie or two. Third night in a row watching TV ( Been too busy up till then) Everything is Xmas here- all the background music in shops, Xmas lights on steroids everywhere, and the Politically Correct 'Happy Holidays' from every person you speak to.
Our front seat passenger, Buddy the 2 foot Elf, has been helping us blend in....
