Day 633-634, 27-28 Feb '16, Rouillac, Sausages, Red Beret & Farewell. Our final day together dawned bright and early and we started the day with a traditional French breakfast dish - Galette. Buckwheat pancakes with ham and egg folded inside and sprinkled with cheese (all done in a pan). De-lish! We checked out the monthly street fair in Rouillac last month on the 27th and enjoyed it so much we were keen to share it with Lee and Annie. Today was officially one of the coldest days we've had so far. I foolishly wore "just" a fur coat and ended up with freezing hands and feet - which necessitated the purchase of a jaunty new red beret (pictured). Much warmer! It being market day, a restaurant for lunch was out of the question - it was grilled sausages, baguettes, onions and chips all round. We followed them up with coffees from a man-with-a-van and lots more walking about. Compared to last month it seemed twice as large and it was after 1 pm before Lee & Annie hit the highway for the five hour trip north. We hit the low and slow road for the 30 minute drive home and spent at least an hour defrosting in front of a freshly built fire. Following our wonderful 3 days out and about, Sunday was most definitely a rest day. Could be a few more of those on the agenda in the forthcoming week. And maybe a chateau...
