I'm going to stop with the "Mr.Gill" stuff now, because I'm sure you've all realised Gary is a lazy sod and won't be contributing nowt to our trip or the blog!
SO, continuing on from the adventure in Hanoi, we board our first sleeper bus. For those that don't know, a sleeper bus consists of about 40 odd beds on a coach. What they fail to tell you, is that the bus beds are made for MIDGETS!! I managed to get a decent matress, whilst Gary was next to me with 2/3's the space, so he was pretty cramped. The roads that night were horrid. Seems like Vietnam has endless potholes, because every 5 minutes, we'd hit one at ridiculous speed! This pretty much meant no sleep, and getting to Hue, we were hassled on arrival by bloody cabbies!! Met a Kiwi couple on the bus, who tried to help us before they sped off in their cab. Found a hostel, checked in and passed out till lunch. I don't really remember much from the rest of the day as we found Hue a pretty boring place, a feeling shared by others on our trip. We went to a bar called Brown Eyes, for what was only meant to be a few cold beers. The Kiwis from earlier were in there, and they joined us after a while (even though they were walking out!) for what turned into a drinking session till the early hours! Andy and Liesje conveniently live in Sydney, and very kindly offered to put us up for a few nights. We may just take them up on the offer!!
The next morning, had a bloody good omlette at the hotel, and headed off on a 4 hour trip to Hoi An!!
Just incase anyone is wondering, we are currently lounging in scorching sun on Nha Trang beach. :)
Next installment coming soon....!
