Sleeper bus number 2 from Hue to Hoi An. Shorter journey compared to our last, and the bed was slighty more comfortable. The weather was pretty awesome, must have been early 30's at least. We had a hotel booked, which once checked in, were pretty good in recommending a tailor to me. They had a book from previous guests with pros and cons of the tailors around Hoi An (there are literally hundreds of them!), and so we headed off to Peace!
As Gary wasn't interested in getting anything made, he sat around for what seemed like hours to him as I deliberated suit colours and linings. Got measured up by the short lady to the sound of R. Kelly's "Bump N Grind" thanks to DJ Gary!! Everything done, we headed back to the hotel to chill and get ready to investigate Hoi An's nightlife. The first night was slightly disappointing. We wandered the old town for a while, a very quaint, quiet place, nowhere as near as hectic as Hanoi. Decided on a few beers at a rock bar and called it an early night.
Day 2 started with brekkie and a first fitting of my suits. The girls must thought I was a fussy sod! Demanded a whole load of changes to the fitting, which meant coming back again at 5 for a second fitting! Grabbed Gary and rented a couple of bikes to ride down to the beach. It's been a few years since I've been on a bike, so to say the journey was wobbly is an understatement! Spent all day soaking up the sun (and a fair few Tiger beers too, nice and cold). Here is where I introduce everyone to Ryan! So there's a guy sat in front of us with a few girls, and he gets up to throw something away. As he's in his Leeds shirt, Gary decides (being a United fan) to kindly tell Ryan where the bin is to stick his shirt in! Ryan laughs, followed by what sounded like "I'll kill you b*stards" under his breath! Nothing is said after this, and we ride back to the hotel slightly drunk, my bike riding skills significantly improved!!
Fitting number 2 done (with more changes), and we decide to get some Vodka before hitting a club we saw near the beach. Gary ran into Ryan in the lobby, where a quick convo led to Ryan joining the Wolfpack, and probably the worst decision of his life! He joined us for the vodka, and a few bottles later, we head to the Zero Sea Mile club (or something along those lines!). Advertised as a pool party, we were 3 out of 7 people there! Buckets were the drink, and pool was the game for an hour or so, till eventually the placed began filling out. Ryan almost hustled a local in pool, before I whooped his ass and sent him home in a huff! We met Simon the Brummie, from Dudley. Funny convos and a lot of piss taking ensued, along with me and Ryan beating 2 Dutch guys at pool (Inger-land!!!). Some of the barmen kept hassling us to tell them naughty words, and thanks to Ryan, they'll be calling future customers 'tossers', thinking its a compliment!! They won't survive long!
The messy night over, a burger breakfast was had, and I picked up the complete suits. With Ryan in tow as our new travelling buddy, we jumped on yet another nightmare night bus, and on to Nha Trang!!
