Boot camp: day 2
Alarm at 615 as we were being taken out to breakfast before work. Annelise wasn't complaining too much about her sore muscles after the previous afternoon's exertions - just at 20 minute intervals. After I had slayed a huntsman spider in the shower - the size normally seen in sci-fi movies- we cruised up the coast to Coolangatta. We sat in a beachside café in pleasant 24C early morning conditions and watched the surfers, runners and cyclists go about their pre-work routine. Drove up to the cliffs above Kirra and looked over to the Manhattanesque skyline of Surfers Paradise 20km north. Michael pointed out the spot where he proposed to Kylie, and where she accepted…….
Back at the gym, I was stretched out in Body Balance class - mix of Yoga and Pilates. Not surprisingly for the time of day and nature of the class, I was the only bloke. Michael gave me a bit of tuition on the "downwards-dog" before hand…..Good preparation for the vegetarian-yoga-meditation -detox resort I have arranged for Thailand.
After the class, back to the beach at Coolangatta: Annelise for a massage, Michael and I went for a swim. The Pacific was the like bathwater and the huge beach was totally empty. What a way to spend lunchtime! Bodysurfed a few waves and headed back to the gym for lunch, picking up Annelise and lunch on the way.
PM: we returned to the Mall at Tweed City and bought some lottery tickets. All seemed very complicated so opted for 4 plays on the $6m "rollerball". Agreed we'd extend the trip for a couple of weeks if our luck was in! We then thought it would be fun to lead the fitness king and queen into temptation and bought them chocolate Easter bunnies. The bunnies were gratefully received and suspect there's little chance they will survive until Easter.
