Cam's Great Escapade
Hello! I'm in Pai now which isnt but should be a village of pies. its actually a very beautiful little mountain town right next to the Burmese border and used to be a market town but is now full of hippies. Its in a valley surrounded by huge foresty mountains which are constantly shrouded in mist and it makes for very stunning scenery (the picture i put on is actually of a nepalese village but you get the idea.) I dont have any money left for mountain treks after my Chang Mai escapades but today me, Imogen and a this guy from Manchester called Mike hired scooters and we went up into the mountains waterfall hunting. Somehow the scouts have made it up into the mountains of northern thailand and there were all these little kids playing in the mud in their scout uniforms. Oh my god i have to steal a thai kid, they are so damn cute. Actually i could live in Pai, it has this strange way of making you fall in love with it and spend days and days here. Most days we havnt even been doing much, just getting oil massages and reading and lying in the hammocks in our hostel restaurant. We found the best room in Pai in this hotel called golden hut, our hut which is on stilts is really cosy and has a balcony which faces over the river with the mountains behind. They look so jurrasic, you half expect a diplodocus to be rambling though the trees. People in Pai seems to be very friendlier than the rest of Thailand and thats saying something considering Thais are the kindest and sweetest people in the world. The hippies are pretty friendly too, on my first day this old one grabbed me and asked why i was so lovely and wouldnt let go of my hand.
Well anyway we have to move on unfortunatly and our next stop is Ko Chang which is a jungly type island. Im not looking forward to the journey, its practicly 24 hours long plus the road to Pai is incredibly bendy. It didnt help that me and Imogen had been out celebrating our last night in Chiant Mai the night before and despite the beautiful scenery i spent most of my time with my eyes shut trying not to puke.
I'm going to miss Pai alot but im looking forward to being somewhere sunny again, the weather here is drizzly and damp infact it reminds me alot of wales. I've learnt alot frommy time in Northern Thailand, mostly that i enjoy hiking and motorbikes and speed!!!! (not the drug) i HAVE to get a scooter when i go to university, i looked pretty stupid in my purple helmet and i fell off a few times but it is the best way to get around.
anyway im still missing you guys lots, maybe we should have a big party when i get back! lots of love from camilla x x x
