well where do i start. I have not written a blog since the first day, this is either testiment to my laziness or japans entertainment value, smart pple will say its a mixture of both. Right a little recap on what we hav done, will try no to go into too much detail to keep whose with short attention spans reading (hey mike, hey sean, hows life?). Oh note if im using bad english or bad spelling i dont care im tired, so dont correct me, also the keyboards on hostel laptops are a bit battered so sometimes doesnt register a keystroke. Disclaimer over. After the first night with no sleep due to the reality of jet lag we thought we would venture off the beaten tourist track and found out about a festival in a park on the other side of the city. Missioned all the way there, walked through the hot hot japanese sun(30 minimum, i was dying) and questioned some park attendents, duely informed the festival was tomorrow. whoops. The rest of the day we got lost wandering round some underground shopping centre, they are big here, trust. found a nice place to eat later near the hostel after walking round the massive shinjiku district in evening, madness, has one of the biggest road crossings in the world, huge buildings and the strangest dressed pple u will eva meet (outside of yoyogi park of course, i will get to that).
OK so its sunday now, been in japan for three days. We headed for harajuku area and yoyogi park. This is possibly one of my favourite places i have ever had the pleasure to visit. Firstly we went to the shrine next the the park, like all shrines it was beautiful but we got to see tradition wedding which was wicked. see pics. then we headed ovr to the park, the entrance is `guarded` by the japanese goths, they are dressed in everything from manga to maid costumes, they make are fancy dress parties/pub crawls look like a 3 year olds birthday. they go the whole 9 yards. Next head into the park, along the side entrance is all the bands, i mean full drum kit, bass and lead. They all bring their own generators, the works its fantastic, i saw like 5 different bands as i was wandering in. One playing some Rage, warmed my little heart that did. There are pple watchin and clapping, but most importantly there is not a single and i mean not one person taking the piss. Get into the park and wandered aroud saw like 30 pple doing a full rehersal for a play, some practising martial arts, some just dancing. Chilled for a bit and watched the `drama` thing. Again NOT ONE person taking the piss. Kept moving, saw some tribal drummig band givin it beans, 5 in after that a group of tap dancers (soph, small pple who tap in the sun, surely u must visit). saw a lot of baseball and poi(chip one guy was spinning with just sheets and using the wind to make it look likethey were spinning wih weight, i actually videoed it for you). We found a little pond which pple where sleeping next too, joined them and had one of the most chilled out days of my life. This was truly a place where pple come together and practise hobbies, do wot they want without fear of ridicule, right in the middle of a massive city. If only we could kill all the scallies in england eh? after that we wandered over a bridge and landed in a brazilian festival on in the park for that day, was weird seeing japanese pple taking pics of the food cus it was strange. Had beers, watched some music. Awesome. We went to the japanese version of an english pub for a laugh. Ended up chatting to a guy called michael who had travelled to japan on his own, good guy. We all had drinks and chatted bout how strange the country is. Eventually went bak to hostel and went to bed with alarm set for 4.30am so we could make it to the fish market.
