Drove into Darwin excited to see a city with high rise buildings and cars other than 4WD's.

Booked into the Free Spirit caravan park about 15 minutes drive out of town
and planned our next 3 days itinerary by the pool.

The Darwin Festival was on, so first stop the wharf precinct and into the Convention Centre for the Aboriginal Art display. Would have loved to take some of the pieces home but a little out of our price range.

Darwin has a beautiful waterfront just a shame you can't swim anywhere. They have created a beach which is protected from the crocs and beside that a huge wave pool which was bustling with families enjoying their Sunday morning out and about.

Ran into the Ralh's again, they were staying at the same caravan park so ate lunch together on the Esplanade before going to the museum. Liam was able to research his natural disasters project on 'Cyclone Tracy'.

Last stop the sunset markets at Mindil Beach. Best markets and everyone enjoyed some serious retail therapy! Great to catch up with Jamie and Casey again who seem to have settled into the Darwin lifestyle.

A must see when in the NT is a visit to a croc park. Learnt a few things about fresh water crocs that we hadn't known earlier. They are quite agile on land unlike the salties so perhaps we were a little close for comfort back on the beach in Windjana.

Sailed the harbour on a sunset cruise which was lots of fun but the best was a 4 hour fishing trip. Great way to fish never touched the bait or a tangled line. Out of the 11 people fishing the kids caught the most (all under sized) except for Izzy who caught a table sized red snapper. Fishing can make you hungry, lunched on you guessed it, croc burgers.

Packed up in the dark Wednesday morning for a very early start. The holden and trailer had to be dropped off at 6.45 for a 10 o'clock departure. After a bit of a wait, we set off, all very excited, on one of the most famous train rides in the world 'The Ghan'.
