Back in the centre of Australia, quite an unreal feeling. Just missed out on the infamous Henley on Todd Regatta by hours. It is a huge community day with the main draw card being a bottomless boat race run on the dry Todd river bed.
Free pancake breakfast held at the caravan park Sunday morning. Very popular, not sure where all the people came from. Chasing the record of 935 pancakes cooked at one sitting and 14 eaten by one person - Liam tried his best but no records broken!
At the train station early as the workmen had a lot of trouble getting our car and trailer off when we first arrived in Alice. We were the first 2WD they have had pulling a camper trailer and their ramps were very steep. After a lot of worried faces and putting them up on blocks they both went up without a hitch. With no car, restricted to sight seeing on foot. Sunday was market day so meandered along Todd Mall and a view from Anzac Hill. Beautiful town with a good vibe.
Back on The Ghan for a 3 pm departure. Came better prepared this time, pillows, blankets and more food and paid the $50 extra for access to the lounge car - we could all get very used to train travel!
