Day 2&3 Wagga Wagga to Temora
We are having so much fun!
Our stay at Wagga was very nice. Dazza got to talk business whilst the kids and I went down to see the river. Brandon thought it was the funniest seeing a chair in the tree that had been deposited during the floods. We left Wagga at about 2pm and headed for Alan & Denise Breust's farm. Just as we arrived it started to sprinkle so we had a quick look around before retreating to the warmth of the fire inside. This morning we awoke at about 7am in preparation to feed the lambs at 8.30am. We watched Alan get the feed ready and we were off. Darren, Micaela and Ethan on the back of the ute with Brandon and I in the cab with Alan. I don't know who enjoyed it more, me or the kids. Such a learning experience for a suburbs girl like myself. Some of the lambs are barely a day old. In one of the paddocks at least 2 of the ewe's have had twins. Alan's not sure but he thinks one may have had triplets.
The Breust's have been so hospitable. Maybe I should give some history between the two families! The Breust's and the East's have been friends for over 50 years when Keith and Merle Breust would come camping down at East's Beach. Darren's dad was a frequent visitor to the farm and I'm told used to help at harvest. The Breust's are still regulars to the park at Christmas and Darren and I have wanted to visit the farm for a while, we are so glad we finally got to do it. Darren got to reminisce and the kids and I got to discover.
After lunch, which was a roast (thanks Denise), we drove into Temora and had a quick look through the aviation museum. We got there 45mins before it closed so they gave us a discount because we didn't have enough time to view it properly. Country folk are so friendly!
After dinner Denise got out rummikub. It's the first time any of us have ever played it, the kids are addicted. Brandon mastered it before me! We had to drag them away to get them to bed.
We have had the most wonderful time staying with the Breust's on their farm and spending time with them. We can't thank them enough for putting up with us.
