Days 94 & 95: Tamworth to Dubbo
Four days left until our big adventure comes to an end, but it hasn't finished yet.
We arrived in Dubbo yesterday and whilst it was a little cool, the sun was shinning and it was a beautiful day.
We are staying at Big4 Dubbo Parklands and I have to say I am a little disappointed. The park is very busy due to school holidays so we are on a drive through site that is a wee bit squishy. We expected that though and we're barely in the van during the day so that isn't too bad. The issue we are upset about is the condition of the amenities block. The park is sitting at 100% occupancy and there is only 1 amenities block which is constantly filthy. It is only cleaned once a day and desperately requires a second clean.
In general, people are grots, especially when they don't have to clean up the mess, but I have never seen an amenities block so constantly wet before. Darren thinks it may be the way the tiles are laid but we're not sure. Anyway, I wish to rant no longer but need to express the fact we would reconsider returning, especially during spring school holidays.
Today we had a really fun day. We visited Western Plains Zoo and chose to view it from the seat of a bicycle, so we hired some bikes and set about exploring the zoo.
Micaela, Ethan and I were all on our own bikes whilst Darren and Brandon were on a tandem. Actually it was more like a tow as Brandon just had to hold onto the handle bars, he even spent the whole day peddling backwards. Luckily he had no chain.
It has been a long time since I rode a bike, Darren doesn't think he has ever even seen me ride one. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy bike riding. Darren said he caught me grinning a few times. However my bum really hurts now, they weren't the most comfortable of seats!
We merrily rode around viewing all the animals, and as Brandon so eloquently put it, we saw Melman, Gloria, Marty and Alex! Who says too much TV isn't good for children.
It was a warm day today so we are all quite drained tonight.
Tomorrow we are visiting the old gaol and because our zoo tickets are valid for 2 days, we may go back to the zoo again.
