Well, it has been a number of days since we managed to find time to write a blog. As it is now 23:36 here in California, this is about as good a time as any.
We have managed to get our NY photos uploaded, so you will be able to get a flavour of what we have seen and been up to. Needless to say, that we LOVE NY... although we did stave off the temptation to buy t-shirts with the slogan!!
Having driven back from New Jersey on Sunday, we dropped the car off at JFK airport, and then jumped in a yellow cab to Manhattan. Door-to-door service was very welcome with our large suitcases. That evening we took a 14 block stroll to Time Square and had dinner at the all American "Hard Rock Cafe".
On Monday & Tuesday we made the most of our sightseeing opportunities, taking advantage of the NY Sightseeing Bus Tours. These proved to be a great way to get around, and of course, get a feel for the many different areas.
On Monday evening we took ourselves off to Greenwhich Village for dinner and cocktails at a small restuarant, and met a couple of the locals - something we have grown used to in the USA - strangers TALK to you!!!
We also managed to squeeze in a bit of shopping, but not much. On reflection, there is sooo much to see and do in NY, that we realised that 2.5 days really is too short! Nevermind, hopefully, we will be able to make it back sometime...
On Wednesday, we flew to Atlanta and had a wonderful time with our friends. It was good to catch up, and see their place and where they are living, and glad that they have settled in so well.
Yesterday, we flew from Atlanta to San Francisco via Dallas. There was just enough time at Dallas Airport to have some lunch, do a bit of wine tasting at the Airport Wine Boutique and again... speak to some of the locals - most notably, one of the airport police officers who was whizzing around on one of those two wheeler "lean forward / lean back" scooters (clearly, don't know the technical term!). G was delighted to find atleast two people wearing cowboy hats... and a few more wearing cowboy boots!
We arrived in San Fran at about 15h30 and took the train into town. We have had a full day of sightseeing today and will no-doubt have the same tomorrow. There is so much to see in the 5 days we are here - will keep you posted.
Well, we should sign off now. Will keep updating the site as & when.
