So I set off for my journey on tuesday at about 4.30 with most of my favourite people at the airport. The trip started really badly because once I had met the two girls who I am travelling with (Trudy and Natalie) we went to check in and I was told that I was not on the same flight as them... this was a complete shock to the system but I had lexxie telling me everything was going to be ok. So I got in the queue for the BA flight I had been placed on - got to front of queue and I quote '' your going nowhere love, the flight is booked'' again and ABSOLUTE shock to the system.. anyway after a few tears and some chats I was placed on the plane but ''only the middle seat unfortunately'' this to me was fine because I would be arriving 20 minutes before Natalie and Trudy so could still meet up and get taxi to our hotel. Went to board the plane and my ticket was bleeping - i thought this would be the third strike of bad luck for my day but fortunately it was good. I was upgraded to World Travel Class.. ammazing - lots of leg room and posh meals with a help yourself bar at the back! HEAVEN.
So I am now in Bangkok, the hotel we are staying in is OK not great but for 7 pound a night this is great, right in the centre of things. We even have a pool. We went out the first night and walked down a road which we thought was Koh San Road - the area where most travellers tend to hang out. We were WRONG! This road was nothing compared to Koh San Road.. We got some food and headed back for some much needed sleep.
Next day we got up and we walked to a local park which we found whilst getting lost on the walk home the previous night. The park was beautiful in the day with the river along side. We manged to get talking to a thai man who put us in a tuk tuk and told us we pay no more than 10 baht about 2op, this tuktuk took us around to the Standing or tall Budha cant remember which adn then the lucky budha these were pretty impressive sites. We then went to a travel agents and sorted out our trip for the rest of our time before getting dropped back to the real koh san road. Its mental.. very very busy and loads of stalls and street venders although i did not buy anything. We met up wit Paul and Gabby in the evening who are lovely and we went to a pingpong show.. this was very amusing to watch and I am glad I have seen it but never again.. some women are 'so talented' haha.. I wont go into detail. After this we all went to a nice bar on koh san road and got some ammazing food and cocktails. I got a really tasty dish of chicken and rice with a sauce i dont have a clue about but it cost 80 baht just over a pound!! it was SO filling.
This morning we got up and met gabby and paul and all took a trip to the floating market, which was a good ttrip but 3 boats trying to sell you tack doesnt quite add up as a market to me.. although we got a boat trip for an hour along the backstreets with some really run down, shanty town type houses. a complete culture shock. worth the 300 baht for the trip although we all nearly fell in the river trying to get in and out the boat - disaster!! After the floating market we went to the grand palace, this was an ammmazing site. absolutely HUGE and everything was golden and really delicate. We had to cover up for this so I rbought my cardigan as I had no long sleeve tops, we nearly died from overheating.. when the cardi came off it was such a relief although still stupid degrees!! We had a bit of a drama with the tuk tuk to take us home but this was soon rectified but 5 of us cramming into a taxi and paying 100- baht, when a tuk tuk was trying to charge us 150 each (We needed 2). Got home safe. Went and paid off for another part of our trip and then headed back to hotel. We then went out for some food and just got online. This brings me to now. I miss my mum, sister, family and my friends but not that much as I am having such a good time!! I dont feel like I am travelling.. it feels slightly strange but I am very much enjoying my time! Best dash. xxxxxxxxxx
