Hei, hola, hello for all and greetings from Tarifa, Spain!
I have been here now for 4 weeks and I still have about 2 months left. But okey, first of all , lets start with the introduction, who am I and so on..:D So, I'm a 22-year-old, experience seeking girl from Finland and I am spending my whole summer of 2012 in Andalucia, Spain (mostly in Tarifa, though.) But why Tarifa? Well, I study tourism & sports in Finland, so Tarifa was a perfect choice for me to come to spend my summer and get to know to the Spanish culture and how things work in small companies here. But the main reason was kitesurfing. I would say that Tarifa is one of the best places to do kitesurfing as the weather conditions (the wind especially!) are good all-year-round. And if someone doesn't know it yet, Tarifa is on the most southern coast of Spain, in the provinze of Cádiz, so it makes it the most southern point of continental Europe also. Tarifa, itself is a quite small place but especially during the summer months, it's full of tourists who come here because of the kitesurfing and nowadays more and more because of the partying and chilling out also.
So what could I say more, this is a perfect place to hang around and get to know to the new people and make new contacts. And what's the best, learn how to kitesurf! So whats coming up next... my feelings about kitesurfing with Tarifa Max kitesurfing school..

Ian Packer Tarifa sound like a great place, I m looking to come mid july. Can you give me some info about accomodation and a place to learn kitesurfing. I plan to come for 10 days. Wich is the closest airport to fly to ?
Tanja Hey Ian, great that you are interested in coming to Tarifa! About the accommodation I would recommend you the hostel called Pensión Facundo. It's located just in the middle of the town just in the main street (Batalla del Salado). I spent there a night when I came here and I can say that the rooms there are clean and in good condition. The staff is also friendly. Facundo is also low-budget choice. One night there costs between 14-20e, depending on your choice. Then about the kitesurfing. I did my course in Tarifa Max kitesurfing school, which is one of the oldest one in the area, (since1998). More info of them you can find in their website: http://www.kiteschooltarifa.net/ and from my next blog writing. The closest airport is in Gibraltar (only 40minutes drive), but most commonly used is in Malaga and from Malaga there are good connections to come to Tarifa by bus. Cheapest option is to take the bus from Malaga to Algeciras and the bus from Algeciras to Tarifa (the whole way is under 20 euros.)
Ian Packer Thank Tanja, That great info I will check it out an organise my trip to Tarifa. May be see you soon
