Jeeez! After a few days of wifi issues and a LOT of driving we've finally got round to updating the blog. apologies in advance for the hundreds of photos all at once :)
So after surviving the hairy bikers of invercargill we headed towards Te Anau which would be our home for the next 2 days. Te Anau is built around a lake and the views from the hotel were absolutely amazing - the lakes and the mountains were beautiful. On the second day we drove to Milford Sound. The drive there was spectacular but nothing can prepare you for the Sound itself. We hopped on a Juicy cruze (it's the only way to travel!) and went for a boat ride around the Sound. With my gloves and furry gilet I looked like nanook of the north and my sea legs made me resemble Bambi on ice but the cruise was definitely a trip highlight so far. The pictures don't do it justice at all, there's simply nothing else like it on earth and it makes you feel so small! We saw fur seals and the boat even went UNDER a waterfall! I was unfortunately fetching cups of tea at that point so missed the drenching but hubby loved every minute of it :) We took a slow drive back to Te Anau - these twisty, turny mountain roads will be the death of me and there's so much to see we we're pulling over for photos every few minutes! We headed to the pub for tea and wine (only my 5th glass since arriving in NZ!!) Early night needed to prepare for our drive to Queenstown!
